How to Set Security on Recycle Bin Properties?

Recycle Bin is a folder, which keeps all the deleted files, folders, shortcuts and programs. Anyone using Windows default rights can change the settings of Recycle Bin.

If your computer is used by many people and you want to improve its security, by removing the right to access, you can edit the “permission for BitBucket” via Windows Registry and change it to “read only” rights for all the users. For doing this, you have to edit Windows registry. Those who are not familiar with editing Windows registry, should not attempt to do it because a mistake can invite some serious problems in your computer. Therefore, be sure that you back up the registry before saving the editing you did.

While making a backup of your Windows registry, be sure that you are logged in as an administrator. Here is the process:

• Go to Start.
• Choose all programs
• Go to accessories
• Navigate to system tools
• Choose system restore

All these changes will take place only when you will restart the computer.

Here is another method of backing up the registry. It is done by exporting the registry.

•  Go to start
• Click on Run option and type Regedit in the text field. Press the enter key
• A Regedit window will open, go to File and select “import or export” from the menu.
• Save the file as .reg, and name it as you want to

The next step will be to go deep within the Registry and locating the BitBuckey key.

• Click on start and click on Run
• Type “regedit.exe” on the text field
• Two windows will appear on the Regedit box, you will see six folders arranged in a column at the left side partition
• Follow the path  HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Explorer
• BitBucket key can be located under the path
• To locate BitBucket key click on the + at the root of the HKEY_Local_Machine folder
• Click on the folder name and select security on the Registry editor menu.
• Click on “permisssions”. Change the permission for the group “everyone” from “special access” to “read”
