Including references in your resume

Have you ever thought as to what is the most important, yet at the same time most often used line on a resume is?

According to me, the line is related to references and it goes like this: “References available upon request.” Am I right or not? A lot of discussion has been going on this topic about the inclusion of references on your resume. A lot of people are in a favor that you must include the aforementioned line at the bottom of your resume. It can prove beneficial for you in making your credibility in front of your employer as it lets your potential employer know that, if asked, you can easily come up with a lot of people that think you are a great asset to any company.

One the other hand, a lot of people are against this as this line doesn’t provide any information with a call to action. They think that it is good  to provide references from your previous employers. And there is a third group of  professionals will urge you not only to include this line in your resume, but rather go with giving a list of three, four  references, along with their titles, contact numbers as well as what kind of relationship you share with them. So, how do you know who to listen to?

Well if you will as me, (I know that I am not an expert), but I would recommend that it is proper resume etiquette that you include something about the references at the bottom of your resume. What kind of help will this step offer you? I will tell you!

This will allow your your potential employer to have a firm understanding that you not only have professional references and you yourself are aware of the fact that checking references is an important part to confirm your reliability in front of others. But make sure that you give valid references in your resume. The people concerned should be able to recognize you as well. You don’t want anyone of the concerned list to be caught by surprise when they are contacted in order to give reference for yourself. I hope you are getting me!

If you are posting your resume on job search web sites, then I would advise that you go with this line, “References available upon request” at the end of your resume. But don’t overdo the list of references as that can prove to a blunder as far as your case is concerned. ALL THE BEST FOR YOUR JOB!
