More About Fiber Optic Cables?

A layman will consider Fiber optic cables as plastic or glass fiber that permits the transmission of communications over large distances as well as at higher rates. These have replaced metallic wires redundant because of transmitting the same without any loss. FOCs are unique as they have immunity towards electromagnetic interferences. The fibers used in making these cables is used in carrying images.

These cables can not be bent beyond a limit. They are very secure and more reliable in comparison to traditional copper wires. Most of these cables are used to be operated in high voltage environment. A fiber cable is made of a tube, track and fastener along with regular fiber bundles. The cable tubes have front and rear surfaces and the cable operated with the help of photons. The photons are transferred to a second quantum, placed in between the mirrors. The photons are absorbed by these mirrors and then bounced back to the quantum till it is completely absorbed.

The FOCs are used in areas related to data, voice, cable TV and video. These cables prevent the electronic equipment from high temperature, steam, smoke and dust. Best part of these cables is that they are made of stainless steel lens and an be easily replaced without further calibration.

Specially designed blowers are used for installing fiber optic cable. These cables carry information in form of light as well as prove to be useful in transporting audio and video signals in short as well as long distances. If a fiber optic cable breaks down, another cable is fitted in between connectors instead of soldering or twisting the cable.

A fiber optic cable have a core that is made of glass silica. The light is guided through this core. A material with refractive index slightly lower than that of core is used to cover the core. Mechanical splicing or fusion splicing is done to connect two optical fibers. The process demands lot of skills as microscopic precision to align the cables together.

It is the unique features and transmission capability of fiber optic cables, which has provided them a wide usage in communication sector.
