Ways to Show Appreciation to Nursing Assistants

Nursing Assistants work really hard to provide their maximum contribution in the medical field.
They work their level best to help patients recover well on time. They provide plenty of comfort and support. They work constantly with patients, try to know them in a better way than the other staff members. They use their bonding to make things easier for the patient and other staff members so that they can do what is best in the favor of the patient.
They also work really hard with Nursing staff, assist them with all the things that come up at a moments notice. Many of these Assistants are happy in their role, but they often realize that they are taken for granted. They perform their roles behind the scenes and that is why the patients and the employer don’t realize their efforts that how much they contribute to the overall goals of the medical profession as a whole. We all can do so many things to let others recognize the efforts of Nursing Assistants.
As a patient or a family member, you can send a nice thank you card to the Nursing Assistant. Often, a thank you is more than enough. It will give them enough motivation, knowing what they do really does make a  lot of difference for so many people. A simple gift will also work for someone who offered so much during your time of need.

Many Nursing Assistants do not feel happy or satisfied by the staff, especially the Nursing staff they work directly under.
Too often Nursing staff only points out their mistakes only. This should not be done. One needs to address their verbal appreciation towards the efforts of Nursing Assistants. Another method to show appreciation is to ask Nursing Assistants for their own inputs and include them in all kinds of negotiations about how to handle the issues of different patients. This will definitely make them feel valued and happy. Employers should get involved in making Nursing Assistants feel appreciated as well. They need to work hard to keep those quality workers  they already have with them.

Employers can show their appreciation to these Nursing Assistants in employment newsletters as well. These letters are mostly read by everyone who is concerned with the medical facility and can be distributed monthly along with the monthly payment. If you take part in Medical Appreciate Week, then it is important that the Nursing Assistants should be made to feel honored during that time as well. Some employers often raise the salaries of their Nursing Assistants based on their performance in the form of a bonus to recognize their efforts.

It is a key point to know that these Nursing Assistants don’t enter the profession for any kind of recognition. They are concerned with helping others the best way they can. However, being under employed or over worked may lead to stress, burnout, and often leaving the profession.
Medical facilities should inform other staff members of all the vital duties that the Nursing Assistants perform. Staff members and the facility need to work really hard to make them feel appreciated and honored as any other staff member. Too often, people think that they are low level workers with less education. This thinking may lead to a serious shortage of Nursing Assistants to help patients and other staff. So it is in the benefit of all the staff members and facility to make sure Nursing Assistants feel welcome, honored, and an intricate part of the society.
